It’s just not fair that shows like Rock of Ages and Mamma Mia! and Bring It On get to stay open when a genuinely great and purely original piece of theatre has to close. It’s just not fair.
Not every show is appealing to everyone. Some people might think it’s not fair that cheddar cheese is more widely eaten than mimolette cheese, but mimolette has a stronger taste that requires a more sophisticated palette. I’m trying to compare Broadway to cheese. What I’m saying is someone who has never seen a musical or doesn’t really keep up with what’s showing would probably be more interested in a widely known show (like Mama Mia) than something less heard of (like 3 Penny Opera). You feel me?
